Oh, the joy of someone who is both racist AND stupid

An image purporting to show a racist, anti-Obama bumper sticker on the back of a vehicle has been garnering lots of attention on Facebook in the past 72 hours.

The bumper sticker reads, “Don’t Re-Nig in 2012.” And in smaller print below, “Stop repeat offenders. Don’t’ reelect Obama!” The sticker also features an image of the Obama campaign logo crossed out.

Ironically, as one astute Facebook reader pointed out, the bumper sticker is not only offensive, it’s pretty dumb. After all, if you take the top message at its literal meaning, to not renege (“Go back on a promise, undertaking, or contract”) in 2012, would mean “don’t fail to re-elect President Obama in 2012”.

But seriously, are we surprised that some TeaTard would be rockin’ this on their SUV? These are the same dipwads who loved Michele Bachmann even though she had less of an understanding of basic civics/American History than your average 5 year old in the Sudan.

These are the same idiots who proudly waved signs in protest saying “Hey government! Keep your grubby hands  off my Medicaid!”, completely unaware of the irony.

Several viewers have claimed the image has been digitally altered. After all, it seems shocking that someone would proudly display an openly racist image on their vehicle in 2012. So, is the image authentic?

In short, yes.

It’s still unclear is the image of the vehicle has been altered in any way, but a website called “Stumpy’s Stickers” offers the bumper sticker for sale for $3. And as The Root points out, the site also several other racially insensitive items for sale as well. The urban myth debunking site Snopes says it cannot yet determine the origins of the photo, but also points out the availability of other similar t-shirts and bumper stickers.

There is even an eponymous “Dontre-nig.com” website that appears to have crashed. Going to the page brings up a “Bandwith Limit Exceeded” warning message.

I checked the domain registration service site WHOIS, which listed the site as belonging to an anonymous owner who purchased the URL through the company DomainsByProxy.com, based in Scottsdale, Arizona. The company specializes in keeping the names of Internet domain owners private.

Great. So they are racist, ignorant AND cowards who won’t show their faces to the world at large.

  1. Yawn. Who cares?

Don’t we have actual important issues to talk about rather than some stupid bumper sticker that may or may not exist? Either scenario simply points to someone stupid behind the photo.

Republicans need not bother defending themselves over this alleged sticker anyway since the Republicans have always been on the correct side of civil rights in this country. Let’s move on and discuss the real issues of our time.

    • You mean like outlawing contraception and enacting tougher laws on pornography? Hate to tell you but the it’s the GOP who is talking about everything BUT the important issues of our time.

      • Nobody has talked about outlawing contraceptions except the media, pushing their own agendas. That story started because a reporter asked Santorum a hypothetical question if a state has the right to outlaw contraception and he correctly said that it did have that right, but it would be stupid to do so and he wouldn’t support a law like that. Santorum has the stance of tougher laws on “obscene” pornography on his campaign website, but the story was ginned up by the media with Santorum defending his stance.

The media pushes these mostly irrelevant stories to distract from the larger issues that truly matter to the majority of Americans.

Santorum is not even going to win the Republican nomination showing he doesn’t even represent a plurality of voting Republicans.

      • Ginned up my ass. There have been more anit-abortion/defund Planned Parenthood pieces of legislation put into play (either at the national level or state level) by GOP politicians in the last year than there were in the last decade. And Santorum said he had no problem with that law and would do nothing to intervene, which would indeed be categorically retarded to do…therefore in need of leadership from the person sitting in the oval office.

You’re dreaming if you think the media is the one pushing a social agenda. The media doesn’t submit legislation for vote, let alone actually have a vote in the matter.

I live in Virginia where we have seen two moronic measures rolled out in the last 2 months alone, a person hood measure and the one requiring vaginal ultrasounds.

Doctors deemed this completely unnecessary and highly invasive but it’s funny how when it was those mythical death panels it was a sin to “get in between a person and their doctor” when dealing with a medical issue but when it comes to a woman contemplating an abortion it’s a whole other thing.

You’re spot on with the fact the majority of us don’t care to handle those issues right now until the economy is repaired, but you couldn’t be more delusional if you think it isn’t the far right edge of the GOP that is the one who is pushing it.

The proof is in the legislation they keep putting into play.

  2. I didn’t include abortion as an irrelevant issue. We were talking contraceptives. For some people, abortion is the most significant issue. I agree that it is mostly the right who are the ones pushing legislation against abortion. I wouldn’t consider them “the far right”. Saying that makes them seem they are the fringe, when the country is split on the issue closer to 50/50.

The Santorum quotes I’ve seen on contraception were it was a state issue, he has voted for allowing their use in the past, but he personally does not support their use. That doesn’t seem like a big deal to me.

    Thanks for the chat.
